2010 Luminant Scholar Program

Making Texas ShineThe Luminant Scholar Program brings environmental awareness into the classroom, helping fifth-grade students across Texas gain an appreciation for preserving the air, water and land we all use.

To help shine a light on environmental protection, Luminant sponsors an essay contest for fifth-graders. One student at each participating school district will win a $1,000 United States Savings Bond, and three schools representing the top essays will receive a $5,000 Luminant grant.

In 2009, more than 12,000 students participated with $55,000 awarded in scholarships and grants. The 2010 program will kick off in August, and scholarships will be awarded throughout the fall. Please visit the following links to learn more.
