Dallas –
Employees complete installation of new infrastructure, develop registration website for future fishing
With roughly 300 work hours now under their tool belts, a team of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant employee volunteers are leading the effort to reopen Squaw Creek Park for limited fishing.
Over the last few months, employees have completed a series of infrastructure improvements to the park including the installation of new buoys, dock cleats and bumpers, while also preparing the parking lot for its first visitors in nearly a decade. In addition, the team is hard at work finalizing details for a registration website, which will accept fishing reservations, as well as provide park rules, information and maps.
“I’m extremely proud of the dedication our employees have shown throughout this project,” said Mitch Lucas, Comanche Peak site vice president. “It is due to their enthusiasm and unwavering commitment that Squaw Creek Park is steadily moving closer to an eventual public reopening for limited fishing.”
One of the first groups to get a look at the newly renovated park will be the participants in the 19th annual Somervell County Youth Fish Day on Saturday, May 8. In partnership with the Texas Game Warden Association and Somervell County 4-H, Luminant will host local families for bank fishing and lunch. The park will be closed to the general public on this date and no reservations will be accepted.
In the meantime, website development will continue as final reopening details are firmed up; look for more updates from Luminant throughout this process. Visit https://www.luminant.com/ to sign up for e-mail notification.
