Funds will support United Way and TXU Energy Aid initiatives
As we near the holiday season, Luminant employees are giving one of the greatest gifts of all – funds to help local residents receive the life-changing support they need.
“We are extremely proud of this year’s fundraising efforts and pleased to give more than $600,000 to help those in our neighborhoods through both the United Way and TXU Energy Aid,” said Phil Wilson, Luminant’s senior vice president of public affairs. “Our employees’ generosity and strong philanthropic nature illustrates our commitment to improving the communities in which we live and work.”
From August through October, Luminant employees held numerous fundraisers across the company’s power plant and mine fleet, as well as at its Dallas headquarters. Funds raised will help local residents retain electric service during the upcoming winter months through TXU Energy Aid bill payment assistance; they will also support the United Way’s goals of improving health, education and income for those in need.
“Luminant employees continue to be among our community’s most generous donors,” said Gary Godsey, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas president and CEO. “The dollars raised in this year’s efforts will be invested in world-class, local community programs that are changing individual lives each day. We simply could not get our work done without the generous support of Luminant.”
